AS YOU START THE WEEK, KEEP IN MIND Most Nigerians claim to be religious. We profess Christianity, Islam or African Traditional Religious beliefs. We fill up places of worship every now and then to praise and worship and pay allegiance to God. None of these religions sanction STEALING in whatever form it may be, but there is wanton stealing in the land. How do we make the connection? How do we relate our religiosity with the amount of stealing that happens on a daily basis? How have a people who claim to love and worship God come to make stealing an essential act of making ends meet? How have a people who study the Word of God and listen to religious admonition come to devise so many different and creative ways to engage in stealing? For us to be whom we claim to be - religious people - and for us to develop as a nation and as a people, we must take seriously the 8th Commandment given through Moses; THOU SHALT NOT STEAL. This definitely doesn't apply to Christians alone, but to EVERYONE. This definitely doesn't apply to Civil Servants, Public Servants, Political Office Holders, Heads of Institutions alone, but to EVERYONE. This definitely doesn't apply to money alone, but EVERYTHING.
