The report revealed that the major risks and threats to Nigeria’s civic spaces emanate from government’s use of laws to arrest, intimidate and threaten digital activists while funding online trolls to de-legitimize dissent and demands for accountability. The report recommends that stakeholders advocate against problematic provisions from the Cybercrime Act while collectively supporting efforts to pass the Digital Rights and Internet Freedom Bill.
